Guardian Electrical Services

EV Charger Installation & Repair in Myrtle Beach, SC

Looking for an electrician to install a Level 2 EV charger at home? Guardian plans the charging circuit, mounting location and electrical connection around your vehicle, chosen charger and existing service.

How We Can Help

A standard 120-volt outlet may not replace the range you use each day during your available parking time. A properly planned Level 2 connection can provide faster home charging, with the actual rate limited by your vehicle, charging equipment and available circuit.

Services We Provide

  • Level 2 EV charger installation
  • Tesla Wall Connector installation
  • Hardwired chargers and charging receptacles
  • Dedicated charging circuits
  • Panel capacity review and load planning
  • Indoor and outdoor charger locations
  • Charger setup, functional checks and customer walkthrough

What the Work Involves

Review your vehicle and electrical capacity

Check the charger specifications, daily driving needs and available electrical capacity.

Plan the parking position and wiring route

Locate the charging equipment around cable reach, vehicle access and a suitable circuit route.

Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

Tesla charger installation and the selected equipment

For Tesla charger installation or another home EV charger, send the exact charger model, vehicle, parking location and intended use. Guardian reviews the electrical installation scope and available supply before confirming equipment settings or whether an upgrade is needed.

A product brand is not a certification claim. Charger purchase, electrical installation, network setup and shared-property approval should be identified separately. See Guardian’s Carolina Forest EV project and the Little River installation summary for confirmed examples.

Choose charging speed around your daily driving

Home Level 2 charging typically uses a 240-volt supply. Charging speed depends on the circuit, charger settings and the vehicle’s own charging limit. The highest number on a charger’s box is not a promise that your car can use that rate. Daily mileage and the hours the vehicle stays parked help determine a useful charging target.

Guardian reviews the selected charger, vehicle connection and available electrical capacity. A lower supported charging setting may meet an overnight charging need without the same demand as the maximum setting. That is an installation decision based on the equipment and service assessment, not permission to turn up a charger on an undersized circuit.

Garage, driveway and outdoor installations

Share where you park and whether the charger will be indoors or outside. Outdoor equipment must be rated for that use. For a condo, rental or managed property, include the owner or property manager so installation permission, parking rights and access can be confirmed before work is scheduled.

Choose the location around daily use

Tell us where the vehicle parks and where you would like the charger mounted. Consider cable reach, walking routes, garage doors, and whether the installation will be indoors or outside.

Share the charger before buying

The vehicle and charger models help define the conversation. Send a product link and installation instructions if you have them. Hardwired and plug-in arrangements have different requirements that should be reviewed for your site.

Common questions before booking

Which Tesla or ChargePoint connector does my EV need?

Send the vehicle year and model plus the exact charger model before buying. Tesla’s Universal Wall Connector provides NACS and J1772 connections; ChargePoint Home Flex is available with either connector configuration. The vehicle’s charging limit, any adapter and the selected equipment instructions still need review. Manufacturer installer and commissioning requirements are confirmed before the installation scope is agreed.

Can I use an extension cord to reach the car?

Plan a compliant charger location and cable reach for the parking space. An extension cord or unapproved adapter is not a substitute for the intended EV charging installation.

Should I choose hardwired charging or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?

Tesla’s Universal Wall Connector uses a hardwired connection. ChargePoint Home Flex offers hardwired and supported NEMA 14-50 or NEMA 6-50 plug-in configurations. ChargePoint specifies up to 40 amps of charging on a suitable 50-amp plug-in circuit; its 48- and 50-amp charging settings require hardwiring. Guardian reviews the exact model, circuit, outlet condition and installation location before recommending an arrangement.

Can an EV charger be installed at a rental, condo or managed property?

It may be possible, but owner or association approval, parking rights, electrical supply and access need to be established first. Include the property manager and any proposed billing or shared-use arrangement. Guardian defines the electrical installation scope after the project responsibilities and selected equipment are reviewed.

Does my home need more electrical capacity for an EV charger?

Not always. A load calculation evaluates the existing electrical demand alongside the proposed charger; an empty breaker space alone is not enough. The selected circuit and charging setting must suit the equipment and available supply. A lower supported setting or compatible load management may be an option. Tesla’s Gen 3 dynamic power management requires a separate approved meter; availability and suitability are checked for the exact system.

Will my home need an electrical panel or service upgrade?

Some homes need additional electrical work; others can support the intended charger with an appropriate installation. We review capacity and the proposed charging load before recommending an upgrade. Send an exterior photo of the closed panel if it is safe to do so; leave protective covers in place.

How are the quote and diagnostic charges handled?

Guardian offers free quotes for planned projects. A fault-finding visit or service call can involve a diagnostic charge, explained before booking. Access, equipment requirements and the work identified determine the proposed repair or installation scope.

Repair & troubleshooting

A charger that will not start a session, loses power or causes a protective device to operate may have a supply, charger or vehicle-side issue.

What does the repair assessment cover?

We review the charger model, displayed fault, circuit supply and accessible connection, then distinguish building-wiring findings from equipment or vehicle concerns.

Could replacement or specialist service be needed?

App connectivity, account settings and sealed internal charger components may need manufacturer support. We do not promise that every charger can be repaired instead of replaced.

Check the electrical service

The existing electrical system and intended charging load need to be evaluated together. An empty breaker position does not by itself establish that the service can support the proposed charger.

What the completed charging check should show

The agreed handover includes the installed circuit and charger settings, applicable protective checks and a charging check with a compatible vehicle when available. We explain the agreed operating limit and any load-management behavior so a deliberately changing charge rate is not mistaken for a fault. Network features and account setup are addressed according to the chosen model and scope.

Tesla, ChargePoint, JuiceBox and dual-charger planning

Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, JuiceBox and other home EV charging products have model-specific supply, connection and setup requirements. Share the actual model and vehicle requirements rather than requesting a circuit based only on the charger’s brand. Existing equipment should be assessed for support and compatibility before it is reused.

Two charging points do not necessarily require identical independent designs. The manufacturer’s Wall Connector power-management information distinguishes available arrangements; the actual equipment and site load determine what is suitable. Guardian reviews the electrical installation and agreed setup, while manufacturer authorization, proprietary commissioning and product warranty conditions are confirmed for the chosen system.

Questions about this electrical work

Can you plan two home EV chargers together?

Yes. Provide both models, parking positions and charging goals so demand, routing and any supported load management can be assessed.

Does a Tesla charger request also include Powerwall installation?

No. EV charging and stationary battery backup are distinct systems; each needs its own equipment and accepted scope.

Can I reuse an existing 240V receptacle for charging?

The receptacle, circuit, charging equipment and intended use must be assessed; physical plug fit does not establish suitability.

What should I decide before requesting a home EV charger quote?

Identify the vehicle and charger model, intended parking position, preferred charging schedule and the existing electrical equipment. The charger requirements, cable route and available capacity need review together. Send manufacturer information before buying equipment or assuming a particular outlet and breaker arrangement will be suitable.

Does a Level 2 EV charger automatically need a new subpanel?

No. The existing electrical supply, capacity, panel arrangement, equipment requirements and wiring route determine the work. A subpanel adds distribution options but does not create additional service capacity by itself. Guardian reviews the actual installation before proposing a circuit, load-management option or wider upgrade.
